Camp Alkulana was founded in 1915 as a ministry to inner city children of Richmond Virginia. It is a ministry of the Richmond Baptist Association. Since its beginning, it's purpose has been the same: to share the love of God with inner city children and to inspire them to respond to that love.

The camp is in the Allegheny mountains of Bath County, nestled down in a little valley. Campers are from 9 to 15 years old. There are four sessions...2 for girls and 2 for boys. Younger campers stay for 8 days; older campers stay for 12 which give staff a good chance to get to know the kids. Activities include cave exploring, tower and rock climbing and rapelling, hiking, crafts, swimming, Bible study and worship. Most of the staff are college students. Many of the camp staff are former campers!

There is a little creek that runs through the middle of camp. That same little creek that provides the campers with a lot of good times catching crayfish and minnows turned into a raging river during the summer of 2005. Noble Warriors were quick to the rescue to help us restore the parking lot and driveway that the creek washed away. Again, the creek flooded this past June and Noble Warriors were there again, shoring up the foundation to the lodge where the rushing waters had washed.

Not only have Noble Warriors responded to emergencies, but have spent many man hours on planned projects. You have built fences, replaced roofs, dredged the swim hole, and a variety of other projects. Your work at Camp Alkulana has been a valuable contribution to camp's ministry.
