Joseph: An Obedient Man

Men, in honor of Father’s Day this coming Sunday, we’re taking a look at Joseph, the father of Jesus, as an example for all us Dads. So far we’ve looked at Jesus’ genealogy through Joseph and we’ve concluded that Joseph was both a Righteous and a Thoughtful man. Today, I want us to recognize that Joseph was an obedient man.

Matthew one: twenty four says this: “When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife”. Matthew two: fourteen is even better. Joseph had a second visit from an angel of the Lord in a dream. Listen to this: “So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left of Egypt”.

Men, here’s the message for us. Joseph was an Obedient man. Joseph responded to God’s commands. And he didn’t wait around, drag his feet or hide behind the tired line that says, “I’ll pray about that.” No, Joseph heard from the Lord and responded to his commands, without, question, hesitation or delay. When was the last time you jumped out of bed to do something radical with God, IMMEDIATELY? Men, wouldn’t you love for your children to respond to you without question, hesitation or delay? If you would, then set an example for them by responding to your heavenly father’s commands without question, hesitation or delay. That’s your challenge for today.
