Be Intentional In Your Marriage

Men, this week we’re spending our time talking about a phrase I’ve heard a number of times recently, Be intentional! So, what are your intentions? You might list all sorts of things that are wishes or desires but that’s not the same as your intentions. If you are intentional about something that means you’re taking purposeful steps in that direction. Let’s take a closer look at our marriages.

We probably all desire healthy marriages. But, are you intentional about making sacrificial deposits in your wife’s emotional account or love tank as some call it? What are you intentionally doing to make sure she understands that she is cherished above any other person, thing or institution in your life? (Patrick Morley always says, After God, but before all others, your wife.) Men, what have you done today, this week, this month to intentionally communicate your love to your wife? Have you sought to ‘live with her in an understanding way’ as Peter commands? Have you ‘loved her as Christ loved the church’ as Paul commands. Have you met her needs, before your own?

Men, here’s the bottom line. I don’t think we can say we intend or purpose to have a strong God-honoring marriage if we don’t purpose to do the little things that lead to the desired end. So, I want to challenge you… be intentional about some small gestures that send a loud message to your wife about your love for her.
