Passing the Baton and Joining Forces

Passing the Baton and Joining Forces

Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border…  1 Chronicles 4:10

For over 30 years Ike Newingham worked throughout the Tidewater, Virginia region to disciple men and help churches disciple men. Ike founded The Gathering of Men, assembled a team, planted Gospel seeds and has seen much fruit over his many years of service. Recently, he determined that it’s time to pass the baton of leadership. We’ve talked with Ike and his team numerous times over the last few years, developing both friendship and partnership in ministry. We’ve learned from them and they’ve learned from us.

Last month, the Board of Directors of GOM voted to join forces with Noble Warriors. Clearly, this is a huge opportunity, but also a huge undertaking as God expands the ministry of Noble Warriors to include the Tidewater area. The region is home to 1.7 Million folks! There are thousands of churches and huge opportunities to Engage, Equip and Encourage them as they reach and build men.

This is no small mission. But, I’m excited that God is entrusting this opportunity to us.

Together (and I’m serious about that word, it will be a huge team effort) we have an opportunity to serve even more churches as they equip men to walk with Christ and lead well!

We’ll work to replicate our ‘Regional Teams’ model (that are currently active in Roanoke, Fredericksburg and Richmond) by empowering local leaders in Tidewater to invest in other leaders of men and multiply ministry.

We’re also beefing up our office team to help manage communications and expand ministry. We are excited about what God is doing and thankful for your support on this journey.

Please continue to pray for our team as our field of ministry expands. We desire to be faithful stewards and wise Kingdom operatives!
