We’ve recently heard questions from high school guys relating to sexual integrity. We’ve also heard from dads about how to begin preparing their young sons for what they will face regarding purity.
If we are getting these questions from high schoolers, we know the work these young dads are doing to prepare their boys is meaningful. Hopefully, it will set them up for a lifetime of guarding their purity and valuing God’s idea of sexuality.
We’ve got Sexual Integrity Resources for men, but you need to be equipped with resources for your kids too. Here are a few we’ve gathered over the years that cover subjects related to sexuality with a biblically-based slant.
You are the only one who knows your son and how he should be equipped. I wouldn’t hand over these books to my kids without reading them first or going through them together. Prayerfully consider how you might take advantage of any of these.
1. God’s Design for Sex (5 books) by Stan Jones and Brenna B. Jones

3. Every Young Man’s Battle by Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker

“Every Young Man’s Battle will show you how to train your eyes and your mind, how to clean up your thought life, and how to develop a realistic battle plan for remaining pure in today’s sexually soaked culture.”
4. Preparing for Adolescence and Preparing for Adolescence Guide and Workbook by Dr. James Dobson
Explores a gamut of topics that preteens and teens face. The workbook includes 20, 10-minute sessions that address “the hot topics of growing up, sexual development, drugs and alcohol, inferiority, love, and identity.”
5. Passport2Purity by Family Life Ministry
Designed to be a weekend getaway experience with a preteen and includes books, CDs, and audios that cover changes in the body, peer pressure, sex, and dating.
6. The Tech-Wise Family by Andy Crouch
We face a daunting challenge today more than ever, thanks to digital devices. Managing our kids’ exposure to technology is a huge part of stacking the deck in their favor, and ours, for that matter. Books like this give great insight into making sure technology stays in its proper place in our homes.
Each of these resources is a tool.
The key to using them is to begin the conversation and let your son know that Dad is the one who cares most about these issues in his life, and he is a safe person to talk to. We can’t just have “the talk” with our kids. We need ongoing conversations. Bravo to you young dads who are being proactive and beginning early to set your kids up for success in honoring God in this aspect of their lives.
The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.
