Gather momentum going into and coming out of the Noble Warriors Men’s Conference with Five Tips to Mobilize Men to turn your offsite or church event into the catalyst of your men’s ministry year, not just a dead-end, one-day gathering.
Pre-Event – Mobilize Men for Purpose
1. Make a list. Or get a list. It’s hard to mobilize folks when you don’t know who or where they are. Use your church directory or database, or work with a small team of guys to create a list of the guys who orbit your church. Don’t forget the men who linger on the periphery.
2. Pray over the men. Honestly, prayer should be first, but having the list of names to review and pray over the men is helpful. The Lord may draw you to a particular individual as you pray. Listen and lean in as the Holy Spirit guides your prayers.
3. Get personal. Pulpit announcements and mass emails have value because men (and their wives) need plenty of reminders to get events on the calendar. BUT, personal invitations are critical. There’s nothing like a personal email, text, or phone call. But an in-person invitation is the best. “Sam, the men of our church are attending the Noble Warriors Men’s Conference in two weeks. We’ve got six (or sixteen or sixty) guys already committed. I’m going, and I’d love for you to join us. Here’s the information you need to register.” (This is a great time to give them a Conference Promo Card from the promo kit!)
4. Do it Together. It makes a difference if guys can travel with, arrive with, sit with, eat with, talk with, process with, hang out with, finish the day with, and travel home with other guys. Did you catch the operative word there? WITH. Most guys don’t want to wander into something alone and figure things out. WITH is a powerful word when engaging men.
5. Encourage Growth. If you’re not planning or attending an event to have a spiritual growth dimension, then don’t do it. Encourage your guys to look for “Key Takeaways” that will impact their walk with Christ. Process these together throughout the event and at the conclusion. One key takeaway that could have a tremendous impact is to help a guy answer the question, “What do I do now?”
The answer is, “Take the right next step” with Jesus.
The aim of mobilization, like the military, is to gain momentum toward a purpose, not just for the sake of movement. Next week, home in on that purpose with Five Ways to Help Your Men Take the “Right Next Step.”
