I’m not a pastor. Nor have I ever played one on TV.* But, I’ve gotten to know many pastors pretty well through Noble Warriors. The truth is, too many of us don’t understand or appreciate the challenges of the pastorate.
One observation is that true shepherds not only care for their sheep, they share their pain.
Surely, they also share joy, but it’s the pain of broken marriages, prodigal children, terminal diseases and lost souls that weigh heavily on the hearts of pastors.
We’ve listed some resources and ideas to help you encourage and honor your pastor this month. We hope you’ll find some great ideas here, but most of them would simply like to know they’re on your mind and that you pray for them. Take time to pray for your pastor regularly. Take it a step further and write him a letter or note of encouragement. It will bless his heart!
*I did, however, have a small part in the movie Courageous. I played the strong, silent type. I was one of the deputies sitting behind Emily’s family in the funeral scene.
