So just how and when do we begin training our young boys for biblical manhood?
In his article How to Raise a Boy to be a Man, Carlos Santiago lays out 10 areas that are key to begin developing in our boys even from a very early age.
Carlos outlines the feelings of inefficiency many of us have faced when it comes to being the leader God calls us to be in our homes. But his words assure us that God equips us to lead as He intended when we begin with the fear of the Lord in our own lives.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.” Proverbs 9:10
What my sons learn about leadership often begins with what they see, hear, and observe in my actions and attitudes, and they need to see my example of wrestling through these issues. Without God, it is impossible. We don’t need to be perfect, but we need to exemplify pursuing Him first; and when we do, He gives us the wisdom we need to lead our families toward Him.
