Battle Briefing | January 2021
In December, we facilitated two meetings for some local pastors and men’s ministry leaders with Robert Lewis as our guest speaker via video.
Robert commissioned a Barna study on Five Essentials to Engage Today’s Men, and it’s eye-opening to see the changes that have taken place in men over the years – not for the better.
As little as twenty years ago, ask a man where he derives his identity, and he would say his family, career, and faith. Today ask a millennial that same question, and he is more likely to reply that his core identity is based on his financial status and his hobbies.
In short, he finds his core identity in the fun he can have and the money he can make.
Is it any wonder the pandemic in 2020 has brought along with it a pandemic of loneliness and a poor sense of well-being? Even 55% of young evangelicals report bouts of loneliness at least once a month.
So why men?
“Masculinity is the greatest evangelistic hook for the church today,” says Lewis. Even those who don’t consider themselves spiritual are still seeking connection and insight on the meaning of manhood.
Build a man, and you build the church.
We cannot continue without you, our faithful partners. You helped us STAND FIRM in the storms of 2020. This year, we continue to Build the Foundation of Biblical Manhood.
“…until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:13
God bless and Happy New Year! May 2021 bring us all closer to fulfilling the work He has for us to do.
