I wish there were a formula.
Follow these steps, and your kids will turn out great. They won’t get into trouble, and they’ll never question their faith. Well, there is no formula. We must lean on his grace as we do our best to train up our children in the way they should go. Anytime we find a great resource to assist us in this worthy task, we like to pass it along with the prayer that it can serve you as you play the role of daily discipler in your kids’ lives.
Talking with Your Kids about God by Natasha Crain is an excellent resource for parents, grandparents, teachers, etc., as we work to impart a biblical worldview to our kids. The book is written for us, not our kids, so that we can be the ones to open the conversations, discuss, and engage with them on topics they’ll be challenged in.
It equips us for 30 crucial conversations we can have with our kids in five significant areas:
- The Existence of God
- Science and God
- The Nature of God
- Believing in God
- The Difference God Makes.
She shares tips on scaling conversations from elementary school through high school and provides relevant scriptures to go with conversation points so our kids can be rooted and grounded in the Word.
Jesus’ words reiterate the importance of engaging our minds as we love God.
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
Mark 12:30
