Minute with Mike | January 2021
When I was working construction with my father in-law, our footing contractor was a believer who had 1 Corinthians 3:10-11 on the side of his truck.
According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:10-11
He was energetic, focused, determined, serous and fun. He arrived on the job before the sun, understood the assignment, and got to work. You didn’t want to get in his way. He was focused on his objective and his destiny. Concrete trucks would be arriving at 1:30 and he had to be ready.
He was a little rough around the edges, but he loved Jesus, understood what the Lord had done for him and was ready to tell you. He had high expectations for himself and others but didn’t lack grace. I loved being on the job with him. He made an impression on me.
Look back at 1 Corinthians 3:10-11… Jesus Christ is the true foundation. I am convinced that our mission to serve churches as they equip men to walk with Jesus is critical.
When we point men to Jesus we are laying a foundation upon which healthy marriages, families and churches are built.
