Eddie Childers has been part of the worship team for several of the Iron Sharpens Iron / Noble Man Conferences. “Honestly, I never really considered myself a ‘volunteer’ although technically I suppose that I am. Volunteering is supposed to be work and when you love serving and playing music to serve, it becomes a joy and delight…not work.”
Meet Eddie:
How and when did you first get involved with Noble Warriors?
I got involved with NW maybe 5 years ago right after joining Parkway’s worship team and was asked to help lead worship at an Iron Sharpens Iron conference. I look forward to their Richmond conference every year.
What is your favorite verse?
I don’t think that I have a favorite per se, but if I had to identify a group of verses as “favorite” it would be 1 Cor. 15:54-58, where Paul explains that God removes sin’s curse of death through a victory over sin achieved through Christ’s death on the cross. Always hold your head up high and get busy doing God’s work.
What are your hobbies?
My main hobby is playing worship music, but I also like to cook. I like refinishing, refurbishing, and repurposing furniture. I also do crafts with my wife around the holidays. I’m always looking for old stuff people are discarding to repurpose and give a new life – maybe transform it into something completely different.
What is your favorite donut?
My favorite donut is the Sugar Shack Blueberry Cake Donut. Although, Krispy Kreme plain glazed hot off the line are to die for, and the Maple Bacon Bismarck at Voodoo Donuts in Portland, Oregon is simply delicious. The overall flavor and texture of the Blueberry Cake is tops.
If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, what animal would you choose to be and why?
I would want to be a dog. I read a story in an old book years ago that read: When God created the divide between man and animals, He let the dog jump back across the divide to become man’s best friend. Dogs love their masters unconditionally, regardless of how they are treated sometimes. I’m probably not the only person that thinks that’s a great model for all of us. Of course, my wife would think it was weird if I grabbed my favorite stuffed toy and ran around the house excitedly ever time she came home from work!
