Noble Warriors needs faithful stewards like you to help us continue training future pastors and elders in biblical manhood.
Thank you for sowing with us!
As we bring 2023 to a close, it’s easy to look back over the year and see God’s faithfulness. He has allowed us to sow Gospel seeds in the hearts of men, and if you have partnered with us, you have participated in that work with us.
But we need to keep planting.
It has been a fruitful year as Mike has been serving young seminary students at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS). Noble Warriors and SEBTS make a great team as we align our efforts to multiply the seed sown for the cause of Christ.
The timing couldn’t be better.
According to Drew Ham, Associate Vice President of Student Life, the soil is rich at SEBTS. “Mike came at a great time, poured fuel on the fire, (and is) helpful in getting guys engaged in men’s ministry.”
In the fall, Mike held two weekly opportunities for men to come together: a Monday night Point Man group and a Tuesday morning BetterMan group. Though the studies are directed toward men leading families, most of the guys attending are college students who are not yet married but desire to learn now what it means to be a godly man, husband, and father.
It’s personal for Drew. His 17 and 19-year-old sons are among the men who keep coming to the groups. He knows the value of his sons choosing to surround themselves with godly men in an environment where they can learn and sharpen one another as they encounter tough questions. “Who do I want my son asking those questions? I want them asking Mike Young. He is a great resource for that.”
And it’s not just students.
Drew’s enthusiasm for raising up strong, biblical men is contagious. As he and Mike have come alongside one another under the mission of biblical manhood, the fire has spread. Other guys are showing up from the surrounding area. A man from Drew’s local church asked if he could attend and now hosts one at his home. In a time when many church Bible studies are not always well-attended, these guys keep showing up!
The Culture of Manhood is in Trouble
“We’ll look back five years from now, and if we don’t capitalize on reaching men in our culture, we’ll be really sorry,” Ham says. “We have to define manhood, we have to define biblical manhood, and we have to challenge men into it, and Mike’s doing exactly that.”
Dean of Students and Vice President of Student Life, Dr. Mark Liederbach, founded the Elder Initiative to help every man aspire to meet the qualifications of an elder even if they don’t become one. They desire to raise biblical men who sit in and serve the church. They know the value of being a faithful church member, strong attender, giver, and a man who shows up, asks good questions, and encourages and helps the pastor.
“What Mike is doing is saddling up next to us… In many ways, we speak the same language. We have a like-minded mission.“
Will You Be a Partner?
Noble Warriors wholly depends on God’s provision through your prayers and financial support.
As the men go, so goes the church. As the church goes, so goes the culture. Biblical manhood is at a deficit in our culture. SEBTS is rich soil, and God has given us the opportunity to focus our efforts together to multiply the seed sown and see real change in raising strong biblical men.
“As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.” Matthew 13:23
