As we talk about wisdom this month, I’m going to share a little wisdom for wives. But good news – it’s not coming from me!
FamilyLife is a wealth of resources, and I stumbled across this article from 2017, Seven Things I Wish I’d Known About Men Before I Married. I love practical tips like these, and I hope you find them useful and maybe a little fun. One of my favorites is, “Men can’t read your mind.” I can certainly testify to this. It would probably make things easier sometimes, but thankfully it isn’t one of the criteria required of me to work towards a biblical marriage.
None of us really knows what we’re diving into when we say, “I do,” but we probably all have preconceived notions of what it will be like – or what we want it to be like.
One thing I can promise you is that you are living with an imperfect sinner in need of God’s grace.
So sometimes it’s a reality check when the honeymoon is over, you disagree over something big, the first fight happens, or he makes you cry for the first time.
Keith Tully, our friend and area representative for FamilyLife shared on our Noble Man Podcast Episode 34, “Together you can bear the fullness of his image. It’s in that oneness that we can share who He is.” We can only accomplish this through prayer and seeking God for the wisdom we need.
“’Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.” Ephesians 5:31-32
I encourage you to check out the many marriage resources at FamilyLife.
They have plenty of tips for wives and husbands as well as marriage weekends, date night ideas, and even a cruise. I am definitely not the expert on wisdom for wives, but I do have experience of having a wise wife, and I’m certainly grateful for that.
