Tracking Your Thanksgiving

Have you ever tracked things to be thankful for?

This old blog post with a story of our son Ben when he was just 4 1/2 years old recently reminded me of God’s faithfulness.

Thankful for God’s Word & It’s Application (Originally posted in 2005.)

When he was little, we wondered how Ben would use his strength. We took him to the Word to train him up. Now he’s 22, a grown man, graduating from college in December. He’d be the first to tell you he’s not perfect, but I can look at him today and tell you he is using his strength for good and for God’s glory.

As younger parents, we were just trying to walk faithfully, step-by-step, to train up our children. We didn’t know what the future would hold. But the Word of the Lord did not return void.

I often write down things I am praying for – at least a bullet point here and there. It’s so cool to look back over time and see how God has faithfully answered our prayers.

Today, I am still thankful for these things that I wrote 18 years ago:

  • God’s Word and its useful application to our lives. It’s a tool I should use more often.
  • The privilege of being a father to three sons and a daughter. The joys and challenges of this job fill my life. (I can add being a grandfather to two grandsons to this list now, too!)
  • The power of God to change lives… mine, Ben’s, and yours.
  • A beautiful and supportive wife who completes me. She is a gift from God.
  • Our extended family which encourages and supports us in a variety of ways.
  • Men like you who challenge me and allow me to challenge them to walk closer with Christ.

What can you thank God for this year as you remember his faithfulness in the past?

Have a Happy Thanksgiving from the Noble Warriors Team!
