The Noble Man Tidewater Conference is right around the corner on October 13th and we still have a handful of workshop presenters to introduce! Our next workshop presenter is Rick Magee, the COO and East Coast Director of Kids Outdoor Zone! An outdoors man at heart, Rick has always had a love for fishing, hunting, and nature at large. After working for years in the timber industry, Rick came to Kids Outdoor Zone to help disciple young men though engaging them in outdoor activities that they may not experience otherwise.
“I love seeing men come alive and equipping them to walk with Jesus and take other men with them. I am burdened to help boys embrace biblical masculinity and become soldiers for the King.”
Rick credits his childhood pastor, Alan Hawkins, as a hero in his life and his friendship with Ken Nichols as a huge impact in his own discipleship journey.
“Ken began attending our church and we immediately began a friendship. I began meeting with him individually and now he and I talk weekly and meet monthly. I use things I’ve heard and learned from him weekly.”
When it comes to recommended reading, Rick admits he can’t suggest just one book to people. He has a handful! His list includes The Pursuit of God by AW Tozer, Fathered by God by John Eldridge, Pure Desire by Ted Roberts. Currently, Rick is reading A Way of Escape by Neil Anderson.
“This book has expanded incredibly on the role of believing Romans 6:1-11 as a foundation in becoming free of sin’s grip and the role of obedience in training our mind and body to live in submission to the Spirit.”
And which man in the Bible does he most identify with?
“Peter. [I] jump in quickly with both feet and sometimes don’t keep my faith and sink.”
Thankfully, even if we sink, Rick knows we can cling to the truth and promise of Romans 5:20-21. “The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abound all the more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Register TODAY to meet Rick and learn more about Kids Outdoor Zone at The Noble Man Tidewater Conference!
