Topics discussed
- Praying For Your Men:
- Prayer must be a priority in local church men’s ministry.
- Someone on your team should be a designated prayer leader with a responsibility to remind everyone to pray.
- Keep a list of the men who would consider your church their home and pray for them by name.
- Engage the ladies in this aspect of the ministry as well!
- Reaching and Serving Single Moms, Blended Families, etc.
- Keep those folks on your radar as a men’s ministry leader. Be proactive in serving them and meeting their needs.
- Relevance to Today’s Issues
- The Power of Grace. Isaiah Encountered Two Men
- One exhibited no grace.
- The other approached him with grace.
- Our ability to extend grace to others is dependent on our understanding and mindfulness of the grace that we have received through Jesus Christ.
- Previous experiences, even and especially the most difficult ones, help us extend grace to others.
- Intentionality
- The mentor was purposeful, intentional, and strategic in leveraging his experiences and growth to invest in others.
- He was intentionally present and persistent in the lives of the men he discipled.
- We will not succeed at discipleship by mistake. We must be intentional. We must not be passive.
- It’s ok to start small. The Forge gathering started with Joshua investing in one man, then another, then another. A mighty oak grows from a small acorn.
- Don’t despise small beginnings.
- Make intentional and strategic investments in a few who are committed rather than many who are passive.
- Experience long obedience in the same direction.
- Be particular about who you invest in. Look for “faithful men who will teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2
- Be Consistent in your Witness!
- The Kendrick’s are consistent in their witness through the films.
- We must be consistent in our witness.
