I know it’s just the first week of October, but Christmas will be here soon. (Actually, it is only 80 days away!) Christmas has become so busy and secularized that it’s easy to lose sight of Christ. Selfishly and shamelessly, I’d like to invite you to encourage and equip your families, especially your men, to keep Christ in front of Christmas.
Early in our history, Noble Warriors started helping men build mangers with their children and equipping them to use the manger as a centerpiece for seasonal family devotions with Let’s Build a Manger!® Over the years, families across the country have built mangers together and used them as a visual reminder to keep Christ in front of Christmas.
So, while Christmas is still in the distance but getting closer, could I encourage you to forward this blog post to a key leader in your church – a guy who might catch a vision for helping families celebrate Jesus in a unique, hands-on way this Christmas? Encourage him to consider purchasing Let’s Build a Manger!® kits to give to families right after Thanksgiving or to host a manger-build event in early December.
Here are some other ideas that may be useful to you:
- Use the manger for an object lesson during one or more messages this Christmas.
- Use mangers to hold unleavened bread during a special communion service.
- Challenge families to build a manger and use it to share Christ with a neighbor or friend.
Last year, we shared a testimony of a guy who purchased a Let’s Build a Manger!® kit to give away on his neighborhood Buy Nothing website. The response was so great that he ended up purchasing and giving away every manger in an entire case! He created 12 Gospel touchpoints out of that one small gesture.
I know you’ve got much on your plate. I hope you find these ideas helpful, and I hope you’ve found a point man or two to hand them off to that can implement them in your church. Let us know how we might serve you as you seek to serve your men in this season.
Unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.
Luke 2:11-12
